Cucumber Salad YUM!!

I was just about to do my workout for today and thought I would make a post. And no…I am not trying to get out of the workout…I love burpees..:/

I made this recipe last week for a side with dinner and we both loved it!
I found this on Pinterest awhile ago and you can also find it on I am putting the picture from because by the time I thought of taking a picture of what I made…it was gone. 🙂

1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream (or use greek yogurt)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill, plus more for garnish (optional)
Coarse salt and ground pepper
4 to 6 Kirby cucumbers (about 1 pound), halved lengthwise and thinly sliced crosswise

In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, lemon juice, and dill. Season with salt and pepper, and whisk well to combine.

Add cucumbers, and toss to coat. Garnish with more dill, if desired. Serve, or refrigerate, covered, up to 4 hours.

It is very light and tastes amazing!! Let me know what you think?!?

DIY: Chalk painted Mason Jars

Yesterday was a rainy and windy day! I thought it would be great to stay in and just do a DIY project! I have this pinned in my pinterest DIY board and wanted to have something for the table Ram and I made. It took about 2 hours to get all four painted. That includes making the paint into chalk paint.

How to make chalk paint:

1.Paint (in the color you want)
2.Unsanded grout
3.Stirring stick,container, water

1.For every 1 cup of paint you will need 2 tbsp of grout. Mix water and grout until there are no lumps.
2. Add paint and stir.

And then you have chalk paint to paint with!!
What I love about chalk paint is that it is thicker than regular paint and you do not have to prime the things you paint. Using sand paper can give the old weathered look on the jars and furniture.

Any questions on this project or chalk paint..let me know!!

Yummy Dog Treats!

Last year, I bought our dogs those chicken jerky treats. I started to notice them not being themselves and also Bruce’s was losing fur and was having flaky skin. My sister told me about how those same dog treats were on the news because dogs were getting sick and even dying from them. That is when I started looking into making their own treats. I found this recipe on Pinterest and I can honestly say…. my dogs love them!! So 3 out of 3 dogs approve.

Recipe type: Doggie Treats
Prep time: 20 mins Cook time: 40 mins Total time: 1 hour

A healthy, yummy treat for your best friend!
2½ cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons peanut butter
½ teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a stand mixer, mix together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon
Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.
Roll the dough into a ½-inch-thick roll. Cut into ½-inch pieces.
Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

This is where I found the Recipe! Click Here!

My husband and I are trying to eat right and make healthy choices. So why not make those same choices for our dogs?!

I thought I would give a sneak preview of the master bathroom. It is still being worked on and not a one day project like the guest bathroom. 🙂 I do not have a before picture of the master bath but I was told that is a good thing. It was not a pretty sight.:/ There are just a few things that need to be done to it and then it will be finished! So here ya go!!

Because we have a new whirlpool tub, I thought it would be nice to give the bathroom a spa/hotel feel. I will take some more pictures this weekend to show you!!

A True Love Story!~

blog main

Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be great to finally tell the story about how Ramsey and I met. He also wanted to tell his view on how we met so enjoy!

My story: So we were introduced years ago, around 2004-2005, so we knew of each other for awhile. We met at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival and each year we would run into each other because of our parents knowing each other. His work helps each year with cleaning up the grounds so I knew he would be there every year. He was that guy that I would seek out each year because I thought he was hot. Of course, I never had the courage to speak to him. So when I finished college and moved back to Katy, I wondered if he still lives in Katy. I found his myspace and sent him a message.

Yeah… I know…Myspace.:( I don’t know why I didn’t look him up on Facebook. So now was the waiting game because he had not been on for awhile so I was scared that he would never see it. I had almost given up, when I got a message from him. He gave me his phone number and told me to contact him. I decided to wait until the next day to text him (didn’t want to sound desperate). We decided to hang out on Saturday during the Rice Harvest Festival.

We ending up hanging out at the Rice Harvest during the day and he bought me a belt and matching bracelet for my birthday(Saturday was my birthday 10/10). Then at night, we went to the movies and saw Zombieland!! After the movie, we went back to the Rice Harvest and I met one of his brothers that night. When we started to leave, he played Josh Turner’s In my dreams and we danced to it. This song would later be our song at our wedding. 🙂

A year after our first date, Saturday night during the bands changing on the main stage at the Rice Harvest Festival, my husband brought me up on stage to hand out bead necklaces but he actually brought me up there to ask me to marry him. I think we all know what my answer was!! I said Yess!!!!

His story: Can’t remember the day but I came back to the office and decided to check my Myspace account. I am glad that I did because I had not been on it in months. I had a message from a gorgeous young lady. I was excited cause I had all but given up on meeting any one that could fall in love with this guy.I had met Christine years before and every year my company helps clean up the grounds at the Rice Harvest Festival and she would be passing out stuff with her mom, who worked for KCM, at the time. I’ll be honest, I could of done more working than standing. Back then, she either had a boyfriend or I had a girlfriend but you never know what the future holds.

Fast forward to 2009, at a desk at my work, reading a message from Miss Perfect. So I said why not? Maybe she’s trying to build something here so I sent a small message back with my number. By accident, I played it cool because she sent the message at least a week earlier. So my hasty reply didn’t seem desperate. The next day went dragged by slooowwly. I must of checked my phone 1,000 times to see if there was any calls or texts. Well, that day I was in a chemical plant, Sweeny East Land Farm to be exact, on a log waiting for a tow truck and all of a sudden there was a text. I must have jumped 100 times and yelled “She texted me!”

The exact moment we met: I had finished the morning work I had to do.So the moment of meeting happened at the South West corner of the Rice Harvest Food tent. She was wearing a black, blue and white plaid shirt with blue jeans and her favorite shoes (converse). We walked around looked at booths and bought her a belt and making bracelet that caught her eye. A bold first date move and a hundred dollars later… It was getting late and I was cleaning the passenger side of my truck (just throwing it in the back seat,HAHA) when I found my Josh Turner CD. I wanted to play her a song and dance in the parking lot. She said yes and we danced to “In my Dreams.” In two years, she wasn’t wearing a plaid shirt and jeans but a beautiful wedding dress and we were dancing to the same song as Husband and wife.

There ya go!! That is the story on how we met!

Meet the Kids :)

Our doggies of course!! 🙂

I thought I would introduce the three kiddos!!

I will start with the Queen of the house. The one that I had to win over in the beginning!

Duchess (Duch,The Duchess,Duchagirl)

duchessduchess 2duchess3

She is the oldest(about 5 or 6 yr. old). And one of the smartest and sweetest dogs I know. She is a border collie/ blue heeler mix. And is a big part of Ramsey’s world and if she didn’t like me then I would not have had a chance. She likes tennis balls, bones, and stuff animals. All day, she will wait at the door for her Daddy to come home.

Bruce (Bruce Boy, Big boy)

Now,when we got Bruce(will be 3 this year), we were told he was 5 weeks old. We actually think he was younger than that. His mother was hit but a truck when he was 2 weeks old. He is a mix of ?????? not really sure. We thought he would be a little bit bigger than Duchess but we were wrong. He is double her size. He thinks that he is my protecter and also is my shadow. He loves tennis balls!!

Stella (Stella girl, Stella wella, little girl)

Image 1

Stella (turns 2 this year) is actually the offspring of both Duchess and Bruce. She is one out of 7 puppies and is one out of two that look blue heeler. We thought that she would grow out of the awkward puppy stage…yea…she’s still awkward. She loves all toys and also socks. She also loves helping take out the trash. I’ll have to make a video of it because it is hilarious! When I was looking for pictures of her now, I realized she never faces the camera. I guess I will have to work harder on this. haha

If you are ever around us, you will probably hear a million stories about them!! So beware!! 🙂

fitness, motivational monday, Mud Run

Not just your average run…

Last year, my sister and I participated in a 5k benefiting National Breast Cancer Foundation. We had tons of fun and plan on doing it again this year. I wanted to make a list of some of the runs that I have found. And I want to share some with you!!

The Color Run

The Color Run is a 5k that is mostly focused on having fun with friends and family. It is a race for everyone! There are two rules though.. 1.Wear a white shirt or mostly white shirt. and 2.color plastered EVERYTHING at the finish! 🙂 So basically everyone starts at the starting line and by the time you get to the finish line you are completely covered in color!!

Dirty Girl Mud Run

The Dirty Girl Mud Run is a 5k for all women (sorry guys). My sister and I did this one last year and had a blast. It’s a great way to spend some time with friends and family and get dirty! There are a certain number of obstacles. You will either run, climb, walk or crawl. Trust me, it is a lot of fun and it is a great way to support breast cancer.

Run for your lives

Run for your lives is the first interactive zombie infested obstacle race! How it works is that you get a flag belt. The belt is your health and the zombies want your flags and probably also your brains. If you lose your flags then you are infected and the zombies win. Now, there are health packs through out the course so there is a chance you can make it. So good luck!!

Tough Mudder

The Tough Mudder is a hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces. It is to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. It also helps raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. If you think you are tough enough then take the challenge!
Spartan Race

Now, the Spartan Race is, what I think, the king of all obstacle races! It was designed by seven insane athletes and a Royal Marine. There is the Spartan Sprint, Super Spartan, Spartan Beast and if you can make it through all that, then you have a chance at the Death Race. The Death race is the championship of obstacle racing!! Just pure craziness!!

There are tons more!! I just picked a few races that I thought were interesting. If you are from the Houston area, I found a link that shows all the events for 2013.
I hope you guys try some of these out and if you have share your experiences!!
